BREAKING NEWS: METABOLISMS DO NOT COLLAPSE AT 40. 📡

Don’t we just love the internet?

If you’re in your 40s like me, congratulations: you’ve officially landed on the part of the internet where everything is about perimenopause, cortisol, supplements, peptides, and dire warnings that your best years are behind you. And sure, biology shifts. We’re not pretending nothing changes. But the whole “you hit 40 and fall off a cliff” narrative is… dramatic. It’s also lazy, because writing us off is a much easier cultural storyline than taking the time and effort to understand how the female body actually functions. *end rant

But what you may be experiencing is very real, which is why it’s so confusing. It can feel like more effort for less return. More puffiness. More fatigue. More “why does my body feel like it changed the rules overnight?” You’re doing the same things, and getting a different response — more trying, less traction. What almost no one talks about is environment, and how much of what we call accelerated “aging” is actually circadian disruption catching up.

What is circadian biology?

Unless you have four hours to listen to a Huberman podcast, you might not actually know what circadian biology is — and that’s okay. But that needs to change, right now, because this is the root of so much of what you’re experiencing. Your hormones. Your sleep. The way you store fat. Your energy. We spend so much time in modern wellness obsessing over supplements, diets, protocols — and none of those things are wrong. They’re just layers of strategy, not the foundation. Circadian biology is the foundation.

The Glowology Project

I came to circadian biology through my studies in evolutionary anthropology. I was already asking questions about how the body evolved in relationship to environment, and once light entered the picture, I couldn’t unsee it. I started reading, listening, following researchers, and eventually decided to give myself a full year to explore circadian biology through the lens of women’s health — not just intellectually, but personally, in my own body. I called this exploration, The Glowology Project.

At the time, I was dealing with lingering, confusing health issues after long COVID. The kind where your labs look “normal,” but you don’t feel normal at all. I tried everything. Protocols. Supplements. Workouts. Diet shifts. Nothing really touched it. This work did. Slowly, quietly, my body started responding in ways nothing else had. And that’s when it clicked — this wasn’t another wellness angle. This was the foundation everything else rests on.

What started as a one-year project became a cornerstone of my work. That exploration eventually became 75 Helio — a way of working with circadian biology that doesn’t ask you to spend your life buried in research. You can study the science for years — I have — but the real shift happens when you trust your body’s innate intelligence. Your biology already knows what to do with light. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is simply step outside and let it remember.
